On Earth Day, April 22, 2026, Savannah ABC affiliate WJCL covered the launch of Plantiqo and the debut of our first product, the Preserve Leaf Elixir. Reporter Frank Sulkowski spoke with founder Tahir Blount about why he started Plantiqo, what makes Preserve different, and why leaf care is about more than appearances.
The story aired on WJCL and was published at wjcl.com. Here are a few highlights from the coverage.
On Why Plantiqo Exists
"I had a day where I was trying to clean my plants and just tend to them, and I was going around looking for different products," Blount told WJCL. "But I noticed products were either too simple, too chemical-based or too complicated. So it was like, is it possible for someone to create something that would work in the plant care space, but also be eco-friendly? And that's where Plantiqo was birthed."
On Leaf Health
The coverage highlighted the core insight behind Preserve: that dusty leaves aren't just a cosmetic issue. Leaves have pores that help plants exchange gases and regulate moisture. When dust builds up, those pores can become clogged, interfering with normal plant functions over time.
"Plants are not just decor, right? They're living things," Blount said. "And we want to take care of those just like we take care of ourselves."
On the Weekly Ritual
WJCL described Preserve as part of a simple weekly ritual for healthier leaves and healthier plants โ misting from six to eight inches away and gently wiping the leaves with a damp cloth. The product launched online at plantiqo.com and at Cast and Grey Botanical on Waters Avenue in Savannah.
"Healthy leaves help support a healthier plant, and we want to make that care routine easy and enjoyable for people." โ Tahir Blount, Plantiqo founder
